Sewing Conversations, a social practice: 2016 - Present

For Sewing Conversations, the artist brings people together to sit, talk, and sew. This project was inspired by Jenkins’ Appalachian family history and the tradition of quilting circles. The project aims to bring people together over the simple act of creating and talking.

Jenkins has initiated Sewing Conversations with many people at multiple places so far, including: both of her grandmother’s homes, the artist’s home and studio, Nave Annex Gallery, School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Tufts University, and Lycoming College.

This project has been exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Nave Annex Gallery in Somerville, MA.
